Questions buyers ask
8.8, 10.9 or 12.9: which grade?
Nominal tensile and yield strengths are 800 and 640 N/mm² for 8.8, 1,000 and 900 for 10.9, and 1,200 and 1,080 for 12.9. Use the grade the design calls for and never substitute a lower one.
Which nut goes with a 10.9 bolt?
A class 10 nut; class 8 goes with 8.8 and class 12 with 12.9. A nut and bolt of the same class can be loaded to the bolt's yield point without damaging the nut.
A2 or A4 stainless?
A2 is grade 304 steel and A4 is grade 316, which contains molybdenum. Use A4 in coastal or chloride exposure, and for structural use specify property class 70 or 80; class 80 is similar in strength to 8.8.
Can stainless screws go into aluminium or galvanised parts?
Yes, that way round: small stainless fasteners in much larger aluminium or galvanised parts cause virtually no galvanic corrosion. The fastener should always be the more noble metal.
What do allen key screws cost in Kenya?

HSS, cobalt or SDS: the right drill bit for steel, stainless and concrete
Which drill bit for mild steel, stainless, brick and concrete: HSS DIN 338, cobalt, SDS Plus and SDS Max, with speeds, sizes and what 10/100/160 means.

Socket cap, countersunk, button or grub: choosing Allen screws
The four hex socket (Allen) screw heads, what each is for, the hex key size for every metric size, and when 12.9 black beats A2 stainless.

DIN 933 or DIN 931? Full thread vs half thread hex bolts
DIN 933 is threaded to the head, DIN 931 keeps a plain shank. Which one carries shear, which one suits tapped holes, how to pick the length and grade.

Stainless, zinc-plated or galvanised: fasteners for outdoor and coastal sites
Choosing fasteners that will not rust: zinc-plated indoors, hot-dip galvanised outdoors, stainless A2 and A4 by the sea, and the mistakes that cause early corrosion.

Inch or metric? Reading bolt sizes like 1/2" x 1-1/2" and M12 x 40
How to read and order inch and metric bolts: diameter first, then length, UNC, UNF and BSW threads, and why an M12 nut will not fit a 1/2 inch bolt.

Fixing steel to concrete: wedge, sleeve or chemical anchor?
Which anchor holds steel on concrete: wedge anchors, sleeve (rawl) bolts or chemical anchors, with sizes, installation steps and when to use each.

Bolt grades 4.8, 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 explained: what HT means
What the numbers on a bolt head mean, when an 8.8 HT bolt is enough and when to use 10.9, which nut to pair with each grade, and DIN 931 versus DIN 933.
