Do sprinkler pipe hangers need to be approved?
Yes. Sprinkler clamps and loops must be approved and listed under FM and UL, whose requirements follow NFPA 13. fischer FRSP sprinkler loops carry FM and/or UL approval depending on size, for ½" to 8" pipe.
Which anchor hangs pipes, ducts and cable trays from a slab?
For light, repeated hangers, an anchor assessed for multiple non-structural fixings in cracked concrete, such as fischer FNA II (ETA-06/0175). For heavier single points, a bolt anchor such as fischer FAZ II.
How do I fire-stop a plastic pipe through a fire-rated wall?
Use a penetration seal tested to EN 1366-3, such as fischer FiPW intumescent pipe wraps (ETA-21/1061) for non-metallic pipes up to 250 mm. Check the ETA for the wall or floor you are sealing.
Light or heavy strut channel?
fischer FLS is for light loads such as small pipes, ventilation and electrical suspensions. FUS is the heavier C-profile, with serrated lips that hold the channel nut under high shear loads.
Will copper pipes corrode on steel clamps?
They can: dissimilar metals in contact with moisture corrode, and carbon steel corrodes faster against copper. An EPDM-lined clamp breaks the contact.
