Questions buyers ask
What grade of bolt is used for structural steel?
Standard beam-to-column and fin-plate connections use M20 grade 8.8 fully threaded bolts in 22 mm holes; heavily loaded joints may need larger bolts such as M24. Portal-frame eaves and apex connections use grade 8.8 or 10.9.
Which anchor works in cracked concrete?
One whose European Technical Assessment (ETA) covers cracked concrete, listed as Option 1; Option 7 covers non-cracked concrete only. fischer's FBS II concrete screw, for example, is assessed for cracked concrete and seismic use.
Galvanised or stainless near the coast?
Zinc wears faster as the air gets more corrosive: about 0.7 to 2.1 µm a year in an urban C3 environment and 4.2 to 8.4 µm in a marine C5 one under ISO 9223. Where salt or chlorides are present, choose A4 (316) stainless over A2 (304).
Do I need preloaded (HSFG) bolts?
Usually not: preloaded bolts are seldom used in buildings. They are for slip-critical joints, oversize or slotted holes and bridges, and are supplied as EN 14399 assemblies.
What do bolts and nuts cost in Kenya?
Prices come on a quote. Send the items, sizes and quantities on WhatsApp or through the website and the sales team replies with a priced quote you can accept online.
Do you deliver to construction sites?
Yes. Give the site contact and a phone number when you order. Within Nairobi we deliver by our own van or courier; upcountry orders travel by parcel service to your nearest depot. Stocked items confirmed before 2:00 pm dispatch the same working day.
